Tasty Insights from Warren Bobrow, author of Cannabis Cocktails, Mocktails & Tonics

CEDR: For starters Warren, how did you wind up in the cannabis industry?

Warren: Oh, my God, I’ve been smoking weed since I was 12 years old. I’m fifty-nine. It’s my passion. There was weed around all the time where I grew up in northwest New Jersey. It was an affluent area and it was either weed or Jack Daniels and I chose weed.

It was a little more than that. My uncle was a hippie. He graduated from Penn and Harvard Business School in the sixties. He and my cousin turned me on to smoking weed. I think there was a Grateful Dead show at Roosevelt Stadium (Jersey City, NJ) involved in there as well. And that just opened up the door to like 300 Dead shows. I’ve been smoking weed for a long time and I enjoy it. It’s my passion. It’s great passion.

CEDR: What exactly is a mocktail?

Warren: It’s a well-crafted cocktail, but the only thing missing is the alcohol. That said, you can imitate the alcoholic step with different flavors of a well-mixed cocktail.

In a cocktail, you shouldn’t be able to detect the alcohol other than just a hint to flavor it. I think that a well-mixed Mocktail should be every bit as delicious and intriguing as the world’s finest cocktails.

CEDR: What are your thoughts on the difference between decarbing your own cannabis and purchasing a distillate from a dispensary?

Warren: I hate distillates and I’ll tell you why… they taste lousy. My drinks, as a rule, are well balanced. You want to have a drink that tastes good, not just gets you stoned. Right? I mean, any idiot can get stoned.

CEDR: What are your favorite recipes in the book?

Warren: They are Vietnamese iced coffee with THC infused Condensed Milk and

Hoochie Coochie Man… A Mango Lassi with THC infused mock with or without rhum Agricole.. finished with Creole Bitters.

CEDR: What are you excited about?

Warren: That’s the best question you could ask me, because, I’m coming out with Klaus Apothicaire. It’s a mocktail. And it’s going to be on the shelves in California sometime in November.

The next two years are going to be spent promoting this product, hopefully expanding my range across the United States (in cannabis legal states). We’re offering three sku’s and they’re cocktails from my book. They are THC infused with Mango Train Wreck. They’re being produced by a SpaceStation in Woodland, California.

CEDR: Warren, thanks for the great interview. Enjoyed reading your book and look forward to trying Klaus Apothicaire when it’s available.
